LACourtConnect: Changing the Traditional In-Person Courtroom Appearance Model in Los Angeles County

The Los Angeles Superior Court announced it will resume court operations on June 15th with a gradual resumption of hearings on June 22nd. The Court’s Here For You | Safe For You restoration of services and access to justice plan includes the launch of remote court appearance technology for self-represented litigants and attorneys to make audio or video appearances in courtrooms throughout Los Angeles County.

According to the Court's Press Release, LACourtConnect is expected to provide a secure, safe, and convenient way to attend court hearings remotely. The service will be made available in Civil Settlements and Probate matters on June 22nd. Throughout the summer, the Court plans to phase in the service for Limited Civil, Unlimited Civil and Complex, Family Law, and Traffic courtrooms. The Court anticipates LACourtConnect will be available in 580 courtrooms by the end of August 2020.
